| re Editorial on Uniforms | ||
Uniformity of the heart and the mind so tasty to the eye so repugnant and unkind.. So desirable - oh if only every flower were red, oops, no blue... no but if we were all beige... not black, brown, red, pink and green with envy. We could all wear masks – yet if we were all tall and cute... and had red hair, or maybe blonde. Or were all so quiet and respectful like the dead. The wish for this dreadful conformity to solve the dilemmas of inequality - does not solve the problems of the heart. The path of the eye - does not solve the ugliness of the soul. Is not the diversity of nature lesson enough? Maybe the lesson of respect would add a more colorful soul. Must we crush each blossom of individuality on the altar, of the middle of mediocrity? Should there be no song because not everyone can sing? Shall be deny the artistic because not everyone can draw? Should we disfigure the beautiful because some are ugly? Should we have no rainbows because some are offended by yellow? Should we call everyone Sam, because some names are more mellifluous to the ear? Should we ban athletics because only some achieve? This is the tyranny of the anthill - not the rich riotous colorful abundance of god's kindergarten. Can you not see that there are dandelions and tulips, roses and marigolds even black-eyed susans and cauliflowers in gods human garden. Richard W. Spisak Jr. 8367 SE Pine Circle |
